Endre O. Fjeldheim was born on February 8, 1894, in Skjold, Norway. He came to the United States on May 6, 1910, at the age of 16 on a cruise ship named the Mauretania. He was inducted into the military on July 22, 1918, as a private. He fought on the Meuse-Argonne front in November of 1918 and was honorably discharged on August 1, 1919, with a testimonial of “honest and faithful service,” and his character deemed “excellent.” After serving, he settled on a homestead north of Saco. He passed away on September 12, 1959, at the age of 65 and was buried at Reitan Cemetery north of Saco. He was survived by his wife Elizabeth Gartside Fjeldheim, three sons, and five daughters.
